You Can Write a Good Article

By Guest • Oct 11th, 2008 • Category: Marketing and Advertising

We are all in the know when it comes to the raw power and efficacy of article marketing.  I’d even say that article marketing is the most potent and most affordable internet advertising tactic that has been conceptualized since the creation of the digital world.

To put it simply, if you own an online enterprise, you have to resort to article marketing.

Despite this maxim, one of the most asked questions I receive is this: how does one craft a good article?

It seems that even if most internet businessmen know that they have to pursue article marketing, not everyone is capable enough to come up with a made-for-the-internet type of informative work.

Hence, I have written down some easy to follow steps on how you can create the best kind of good article for internet advertising purposes.

  1. Know the subject you want to discuss with your article.
  2. Don’t try to tackle a broad topic.  Break it down to a more specific subject that people will be fascinated with.  Just to illustrate, don’t tackle the general topic of “dogs.”  Try to determine a sub-topic that will win the imagination of the people you will be aiming for.  Usually, this sub-topic points to a particular need, like “dog training” for dog owners who are having problems with their unruly pets, or “dog grooming” for clealiness compulsive dog owners who can’t survive the smell of their dirty canine companions.  You need to discover a sub-topic that will make people take notice.  This is very important.  A lot of articles fail because they don’t discuss a more particular subject.
  3. Because the sub-topic should serve a need, your article must be able to share a solution.  However, depending on how the article will be used, the answer you will discuss will vary.  To illustrate, if the purpose of the article is to promote a product, then hold back on the remedy you will provide.  Your aim, in such a case, is to give the impression that you are an expert in the field, and compel your readers to study what you will be offering.  Keep this in mind throughout the writing process.
  4. Create a catchy grabbing title that is immediately understandable but nevertheless exciting.  People will check out your article if they will like its title.  Otherwise, no one will get to read what you have prepared.
  5. Always remind yourself that every article has 3 essential components: the opening, the body, and the conclusion.  The introduction will state to your audience what your piece is all about.  You can inform them of a surprising fact, a revealing statistic, or a funny analogy to jerk your readers into realizing that yes, you are the a true expert in the field.  The body will discuss the information you desire to relay, naturally.  And the conclusion will review the problem, the provided solution, as well as interject some calls to action (i.e. click my link) if applicable.
  6. What is the right length for articles of this nature? I’d say that 300 to 750 words would be fantastic!

These are just some basic tips for article writing.  It is not hard to write a good article all it takes is some preparation and some thought.  With time you will find it gets a lot quicker.  For more advice on writing a good article and other ways you can increase your website traffic take a look at Marketeermum.
